Howard, who apparently writes a line of books called the Johannes Cabal series, crafts an excellent story in Carter Lovecraft. However, its a disconcerting read, and one that left me feeling like I should go back and read it again just to see if there was something I missed along the way. I opened up the book to read the flaps and discovered that I had other books by the writer, Jonathan L. Howard. Now I had three names to conjure with - Howard (a favorite of mine since ), Lovecraft (since ) and Carter (never a real fan of his writing but his period as editor of the adult Fantasy Series was wonderful).


Jonathan L Howard is a game designer, scriptwriter, and a veteran of the computer games industry since the early s, with titles such as the 'Broken Sword' series to his credit. After publishing two short stories featuring Johannes Cabal (Johannes Cabal and the Blustery Day and Exeunt Demon King) in H. P. Lovecraft's Magazine of Horror.
